Modeling and Simulation of Brake Disc Using Lightweight Materials

Conventionally, Cast iron discs are used for brake discs. In the recent past, lightweight materials replace conventional in many vehicles to make them more fuel efficient. This work reports results of modelling and simulation using five different materials. AISI6150, Iron, Ti–6Al–4V, LM13 Al SiC MMC were considered as disc The temperature distribution, heat flux thermal gradient these analysed reported. is found have lowest weight, distributes a larger area enhancing dissipation, has higher low gradient.
